Royal Palm Beach is a village located in the central part of Palm Beach, in the southeast of Florida and approximately 15 miles inform from the Atlantic Ocean. 65,000-acres purchased by Sam and Hattie Friendland in 1950s then later sold to Miami developer Arthur Desser. What was once an uninhabited swamp and natural preserve initially, thanks to Dessers vision for development, a massive drainage project took place in 1959 and is now a thriving village with a 31,864 population according to Census in 2008. Desser wanted the stately royal palms in the area and included in the name Palm Beach to the new community hence the name what is now called “Royal Palm Beach”. The village is known for their green efforts and many parks. An entire area within the village is designated as a bird sanctuary and nature park. Named Tree City USA in 1990 by National Arbor Day Foundation and in 2008 Family Circle magazine recognized the Village of Royal Palm Beach as one of the Top 10 Best Towns for Families. Family enriched activities and programs are hosted by the municipality to cultivate lifetime skills, physical development and personal needs among its constituents. The schools are consistent “A-rated” elementary and middle schools with public and private schools offering Pre-K through High School.
