Dr. Tracie Grubb is the founder of The Rehab Vets: A co-op approach to care. Dr. Grubb is a rehabilitation veterinarian who offers house calls for her patients as well as a clinic location. She has extensive experience seeing the patients who are too nervous to be treated in a standard hospital setting. Dr. Grubb says, “Much of the time, they [the patient] do much better in their own home. However, some patients are either too distracted at home or simply don’t trust strangers. I like being able to accommodate patients’ comfort and mobility by offering various settings in which to treat them.” Second, some patients simply need more tools and treatment options than what may be offered with mobile service. Hence, the concept of the rehab co-op was born. This space is designed to support the needs of the fearful pet in a neutral space, offer more treatment options for better results, and allows other mobile practitioners use of the space as co-op members. The rehab co-op is designed to be a collaborative space for clinicians and other veterinary healthcare professionals to share treatment ideas and discuss cases for optimal outcomes. This is a business model for care that currently does not exist anywhere else.
